Egypt is a transcontinental nation spanning the northeast corner of Africa and the southwest corner of Asia via the Sinai Peninsula. Renowned as the cradle of one of the world’s earliest and most powerful civilisations, it is famous for its ancient monuments, including the Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx, the new Great Egyptian Museum (GEM) and the iconic Nile River valley.
Cairo, its capital, is the country’s largest city and cultural hub.It has a population of over 107 million people, making it the most populous nation in the Arab world. The official language is Arabic and the currency is the Egyptian Pound (EGP).
The country is mostly covered by the Sahara Desert, with life heavily concentrated along the Nile River.
